At Queensmead Primary Academy the curriculum is designed to recognise the pupil’s prior learning and experiences begun at home and for some pupils in pre-school settings. Every pupil is recognised as a unique individual, and we welcome and celebrate difference within our school community. We believe that a pupil’s first experience of school should be a memorable and a positive start to their learning journey. We use both a topic and text approach to teach the EYFS curriculum which supports learning, widens vocabulary, consolidates, and deepens knowledge and ensures pupil meet their next steps.
Our curriculum is purposeful and has been designed to enable pupils to succeed through cooperative and collaborative learning principles. As such there is a strong emphasis on the Prime Areas of learning; Personal, Social and Emotional Development and Communication and language including oracy.
