Artists In Residence
We work proactively to seek opportunities to enrich our co-curriculum so that our children can engage with experts from a range of creative backgrounds within the Arts.
We work closely with both local and national artists on exciting and inspiring projects.
The World Reimagined Project:
'The World Reimagined Learning Programme builds both the knowledge and skills that underpin racial justice, which empower us to overcome our divisions : reject hatred for compassion; move from despair to hope and take actions that make racial justice a reality in our society'
The World Reimagined - is a national programme supported by Arts Council England, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and The Portal Trust , aiming to bring people together through art, history, dialogue and learning to consider our shared history in order to make racial justice a reality. With Leicester being a host city, our decorated Globe features in the largest national public art education exhibition for racial justice in the UK.
After successfully bidding for the opportunity to have an Artist in Residence to steer the project, our KS2 pupils were inspired to design and create a globe with the expert support of local artist, Pasha Kincaid. The World Reimagined globes featured in a series of sculpture trails in cities across the country.

As an initial starting point, the whole school was involved in creating some magnificent printed banners to celebrate Black Women's contributions to society. Children were supported to design, create and make printing blocks, working as a team to complete the beautiful banners below.
Music Residency
Braunstone Beats Project was created in association with the local charity, Spark Arts to provide opportunities for schools to develop world-class world music in Braunstone.
The focus of the project was to create routes for children to experience music making, composition and performance with Arun Ghosh https://www.camoci.co.uk/arunghosh/aruncomposer.html
The children created three new compositions as an ensemble with 1 to 1 tuition for some pupils. The compositions were then performed alongside professional musicians
Poet in Residence
Our poet in residence project, What Makes Me, Me? was financed through the Lord Mayor's Fund. The 10-week programme explored identity with year 4 pupils who created their own poems and gained new skills whilst building confidence and well-being under the guidance and cultural expertise of professional poet, Owen Craven-Griffiths.
Each child produced their own pieces of creative writing through a series of inter-active poetry workshops, gained new skills and techniques to express ideas and emotions and took part and performed at a poetry slam during the Leicester City Spark Festival.
