House Teams
House teams play an important role in the Academy: each child (and adult!) is placed in a house team on entry to the Academy.
House Teams are there to provide a sense of belonging and joint, collaborative effort of striving together to support each other in bringing out the best in ourselves and our team mates.
Each week pupils are able to collect house points- for producing excellent work, using superb manners and everything in between!
Each team is led by a House Captain. House Captains are voted for from within Year 6 and provide great role models for younger pupils as well as running competitions, weekly playtime games for their team members and collating House Points from across the school as well as other responsibilities such as speaking in assemblies.
'I am really proud of myself to be voted House Captain - it's a great achievement'
'The best part of the job is organising House Team games at playtime and seeing children in my House having fun'
Local parks:
The School Council planned and organised a vote for the House Team names. Pupils decided to choose names which reflect our local area's parks and green spaces that pupils can easily identify with:
Winstanley - Western - Braunstone - Rancliffe
Red Yellow Blue Green
These beautiful shields were the winners of the House Captain competition to design new logos to go with the new House Team names. We then had the winning designs brought to life!
House points are counted by the House Captains who announce the new totals in the Celebration Assembly each week. House Point counters are added to the tubes and at the end of the year the winning House receive a trophy and the exciting prize of an afternoon visit to their 'named' park for a celebration surprise.
'My team is Rancliffe and we've won for the last 2 years!'
'When I win House Points for my team it makes me feel proud'
There is healthy competition between the houses: pupils are always keen to earn House Points to help their House succeed and take pride in belonging to their Team.
